OUR VALUES

VALUES THAT SHAPE OUR LIFE TOGETHER

Values are things that we hold as important.  What we value is generally what we do, what we do is what we value.  We understand that for us to pursue our vision effectively we need to build the life of our church around a set of values that we see in the life of the early church in the bible:

A - All Involved

We long to see every church member encouraged and supported to play their part in the life church, part of a small group, and serving - using the gifts God is giving each of us. We want the church and events we run together to be places where we can learn to exercise our gifts in a safe environment, where we can serve and encourage each other.  (Romans 12:6-11)

B - Becoming Disciples

We want to create an environment within our small groups and larger church gatherings that encourage growth in every individual's life - helping people to take steps forward in their relationship with Jesus Christ.  It’s not about being a spectator!  It’s about taking an active role in building up others and ourselves in Christ.  (Hebrews 12:1-3 and Ephesians 4:14-16)

C - Creating Community

We want to develop a church community built on strong, caring relationships.  A place where we can be open and honest without the fear of rejection.  It is not only the leader's responsibility to care.  Everyone can have a role in looking out for the needs of others.  We want to create a genuine community that is outward looking, welcoming others to be a part of it.  That means loving when it hurts, doing good for others even when it’s costly for us as an individual.  (1 Thessalonians 3:12, and Hebrews 10:19-25)

D - Doing Evangelism

Church events and gatherings are not just for Christians!  We want them to be places where everyone feels welcome and able to explore what faith in Jesus might look like, to explore the big questions of life.

Jesus commissioned his followers to share the Good News of his love, forgiveness and the eternal hope we can find in, and through Him.  The church exists across the world today because those who have gone before us have shared that Good News.  As a church family we have want to grow in confidence in talking to others about what Jesus has done for us, and the reality of living life with Him.  In order that we might play our part in helping others know His love for themselves.

(Matthew 28:18-20 and Luke 19:10)

E - Encountering Jesus

Jesus said in “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:20) God has a purpose for each one of us - to become more and more like Jesus in the way in which we live, speak, think and relate to others.  We long for our small groups and bigger gatherings to be places where we can meet with Jesus and experience his life changing power.  We do that as we pray, worship, learn from the Bible and share honestly together.

We want everyone to grow in living out these five values growing in our connections with Him, with each other, and with the wider community.  All of us growing in our personal relationship with Jesus - worshipping Him, studying the scriptures, developing our prayer life, learning to listen to his leading and guiding - drawing close to him with the expectation of knowing his love in our very core - and in turn sharing his love with others by our words and actions.
